only a native speaker should teach a language ?

I have seen non-nastive speakers that have been fantastic teachers of a language. And I have seen rotten native language teachers.Source(s) : 30 + years as a language teacher.

There are pros and cons on both sides. Non-native speakers often cannot attain the fluency of those brought up speaking the language. Native speakers often rely too heavily on their fluency and fail to acquire sufficient grammar skills to teach their language well. Natives will often mistakenly assume that their students know certain things about the target language, where non-natives are less apt to make such assumptions. My best instructors were generally non-natives. But I have had excellent profs who were native speakers.
